I started work with my judge today. He requires all his clerks (my bosses) to work until 1:30am every day. That's 9:30 am - 1:30 am, Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday they don't come in until noon, but they still stay until 1:30 am. They get the option of taking either Thanksgiving day or New Years off, but not both.
Why do they do it? Because two of the three already have offers at the Supreme Court and the last just hasn't heard back yet. But if that's what it takes to get to the top why bother? Once they get to the Supreme Court they'll just spend another year doing that hellish lifestyle. So you work your butt off so that you have a chance to work your butt off. I don't get it. It's changed my prospective. I'm done trying to reach as high as I can. I'll reach to where it's comfortable and then go home to my wife.

As a guy named Alma once said, people get what they want. Though, sometimes it does taker longer than others, (I know that it's amazing that 1. Duane is kinda quoting scripture and 2. it's in a blog (this one's for you Russel!))
