Protecting doctors who refuse to perform abortions

Obama is planning to overturn Bush's executive order that limits funding for hospitals that don't comply with a federal law that protects doctors who refuse to perform abortions. Federal law allows doctors to refuse to perform abortions on moral grounds. Bush's order says that if the hospital disciplines these conscientious objector doctors it will lose funding. Obama says he believes doctors should have the right to refuse to provide abortions, but thinks this law goes too far.

So what he's saying is, he doesn't mind having a law on the books to protect doctors who refuse to perform abortions, he just doesn't want it to be enforceable.

Obama's patriotism

During the primaries, many questioned Obama's patriotism for trivial things, like not wearing an American flag lapel pin, etc. Then Biden redefined patriotism as paying taxes. Now it turns out that four or five of his appointees don't pay their taxes. Is this a patriotism issue? Motha fica.

Vetting Daschle: A Matter of Judgment

Today Tom Daschle became Obama's second cabinet level appointee (first was Richardson) to withdraw his name from consideration because of an undisclosed scandal. He might have been third if our treasury secretary's tax fraud was a bigger deal.

I don't want to go all Katie Couric on this, but how did the main-stream media with their gotcha questions miss this hypocrisy?
